SCS SB 557 -- MUNICIPAL HOUSING COMMISSIONERS

SPONSOR: Mueller (Smith)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Civil and Administrative Law by a vote of 14 to 1.

This substitute allows municipal housing authorities to appoint a sixth commissioner, who must receive direct assistance from the housing authority, pursuant to federal requirements. The substitute does not apply to the cities of St. Louis and Kansas City or to any housing authority exempted from the federal requirement.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this bill will allow the housing authorities in the state to more easily comply with a federal requirement to appoint a resident of the housing entity to the housing commission.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Mueller; and Missouri Housing Authorities.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
