SB 810 -- FEDERAL REIMBURSEMENT ALLOWANCE

SPONSOR: Goode (Gunn)

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Social Services, Medicaid and the Elderly by a vote of 10 to 0.

This bill extends the hospital federal reimbursement allowance from September 30, 2000, to September 30, 2001.

FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Net Effect on Federal Reimbursement Allowance Fund of $0 in FY 2001, FY 2002, and FY 2003.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that without the sunset extension, the state will lose out on more than $800 million, including more than $500 million in federal matching funds; the health programs for children, the poor, and the elderly funded by these moneys will either not be provided or will need to be funded exclusively with new state revenues.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Gunn; Division of Medical Services; and Missouri Hospital Association.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
