HCS SB 881 -- KANSAS CITY PUBLIC MASS TRANSPORTATION FUND
SPONSOR: Wiggins (Hoppe)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Transportation by a vote of 24 to 0.
Under current law, no more than 6.5% of the moneys in the Kansas City Public Mass Transportation Fund can be used for motor pool operations. This substitute removes that limit. The substitute also revises the procedure for appointing commissioners to the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that there is a growing need for an increase in the budget and for the transportation services of elderly persons. This legislation will give more accountability to Kansas City area citizens.
Testifying for the bill were Senator Wiggins; Kansas City Area Transportation Authority; Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City; and City of Kansas City.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
