HCS SB 942 -- SEXUAL OFFENDERS
SPONSOR: Rohrbach (Smith)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Civil and Administrative Law by a vote of 15 to 0.
The substitute requires the multidisciplinary team assessment concerning an alleged sexually violent predator to be filed with the petition for civil commitment.
The substitute also adds the crimes of sexual assault, deviate sexual assault, child molestation, and sexual abuse to the list of crimes that can be considered toward a determination of whether a person is a predatory sexual offender.
FISCAL NOTE: Not available at time of printing.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the multidisciplinary team assessment language was accidentally omitted from legislation passed into law last year.
Testifying for the bill was Senator Rohrbach.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
