SCS SB 1066 -- Telecommunity Centers
Co-Sponsors: Bland, Maxwell
This substitute authorizes each state 4-year institution of higher education and each state community college to establish local telecommunity centers. These centers are to provide opportunities to local community residents to learn how to use computers and to develop computer literacy; the centers are to use the institution's existing information technology resources. Senior level undergraduate students and graduate students may provide technical assistance to residents at the centers, for which they may receive course credit. Each higher education institution is required to develop a policy to ensure that students are given necessary access to all available information technology resources.
