Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 163 -- HIGHWAY PATROL REVOLVING FUND

CO-SPONSORS:  Berkowitz, Wagner

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Public
Safety, Law Enforcement and Veteran Affairs by a vote of 19 to 0.

This bill includes in the Highway Patrol's Motor Vehicle and
Aircraft Revolving Fund money from the reimbursement of costs
for official use of Highway Patrol vehicles and restitution for
damages or losses to Highway Patrol vehicles or aircrafts.

FISCAL NOTE:  Estimated Net Effect on State Funds of $0 in FY
2002, FY 2003, and FY 2004.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill allows the Highway
Patrol to use the money for its own purposes without the money
going into general revenue.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Berkowitz.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
