HB 309 -- STATE AID TO COMMUNITY COLLEGES

CO-SPONSORS:  McKenna, Johnson (90), Wagner, Selby, Abel,
Hollingsworth

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Fiscal Review and Government Reform by a vote of 6 to 0.

This bill clarifies that the costs of maintenance and repair of
surface parking areas are allowable appropriations for state aid
to community colleges.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the word "grounds" should
include surface parking.  Community colleges cater to
commuters,  making surface parking maintenance important.  No
new money would be required by the bill.

Testifying for the bill were Representative McKenna; and
Missouri Community Colleges Association.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
