HB 606 -- RECORDERS OF DEEDS CO-SPONSORS: Kennedy, Smith, Crawford, Richardson, Hoppe COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Local Government and Related Matters by a vote of 16 to 0. This bill sets a standard format for documents which are recorded by a county recorder of deeds. The new standard format also applies to the St. Louis Recorder of Deeds. The bill has an effective date of January 1, 2002. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that in the electronic age documents must be printed on specific paper with specific ink. This will allow for the scanning of documents. Documents must also be on standard size paper. Testifying for the bill were Representative Kennedy; Recorders' Association of Missouri; and Missouri Land Title Association.
