HB 60 -- KANSAS CITY POLICE OFFICER SALARY INCREASE
CO-SPONSORS: Rizzo, Hoppe
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Urban
Affairs by a vote of 11 to 1.
This bill establishes a new salary scale for police officers in
Kansas City. The bill sets the following salary ranges for
these positions:
Chief of Police: $80,211 - $150,296
Lieutenant Colonels: $71,969 - $99,660
Majors: $64,671 - $85,848
Captains: $59,539 - $81,744
Sergeants: $48,659 - $66,972
Detectives and Police Officers: $26,643 - $59,412
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that this is a standard pay raise
that occurs every 2 years and that it is paid for by the City of
Kansas City, not the state.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Rizzo; Deputy Chief
of Police, Kansas City Police Department; and City of Kansas
City.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
