HB 652 -- BONDED PUBLIC OFFICERS SPONSOR: Robirds COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Elections by a vote of 11 to 2. This bill requires persons seeking elective public offices for which posting of a bond is required to prove they will be able to obtain the bond prior to being allowed to file for the office. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will save candidates time and the expense of running a campaign if they know before hand that they cannot get bonded even if they win an election. Testifying for the bill was Representative Robirds. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee. Julie Jinkens McNitt, Legislative AnalystCopyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
