HB 691 -- MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION

CO-SPONSORS:  Barnett, Kelly (36), Britt, Richardson, Ross

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations by a vote of 9 to 0.

This bill requires the Director of the Department of Revenue to
notify registered motor vehicle owners of the date of
reregistration within an appropriate period prior to the
beginning of the registration period.  Under current law, the
director may notify an owner.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that this simply guarantees people
are notified prior to the registration date.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Barnett.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
