HB 732 -- WATER PATROL

SPONSOR:  Hosmer

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Public Safety, Law Enforcement and Veteran Affairs by a vote
of 20 to 0.

This bill removes the bonding requirement for Water Patrol
officers.  It also makes technical changes to Section 306.165,
RSMo.

The bill contains an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that Water Patrol officers are
currently bonded and insured through the Office of
Administration.  One witness indicated that the current statute
may be a tool for some cases getting dismissed.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Hosmer; and State
Water Patrol.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
