Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 897 -- DRIVER'S LICENSE INFORMATION

CO-SPONSORS:  Kreider, Hanaway, Levin, Kelly (144),
Bartelsmeyer, Foley, Holt

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations by a vote of 8 to 0.

This bill prohibits the Department of Revenue from collecting
from persons applying for any driver's license or from
displaying in any format on a driver's license any information
by which persons can be individually identified.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say the bill is aimed at preventing the
Department of Revenue from encoding personal information beyond
what is absolutely necessary for law enforcement purposes and
only information that has been approved by the Missouri General
Assembly.

Testifying for the bill were Representatives Kreider and Levin;
and Missouri Family Network.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
