HB 1023 -- Elevator Safety Inspection Sponsor: Hohulin Currently, elevator safety inspection codes may be equal to or more stringent than standards set forth by certain professional and safety organizations. This bill requires that safety inspection codes for elevators not be more stringent than the specified standards. A provision from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators is added to the list of safety standards. Any code that is adopted based on the elevator safety inspection guidelines does not apply to manual material lifts that are at least 50 years old and used only for transporting materials. Jasper County is also exempted from codes adopted under the terms of the bill.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
