HB 474 -- Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Sponsor: Froelker This bill limits the damages that a court may award a person involved in a motor vehicle accident when that person was either driving while intoxicated or was operating a vehicle without liability insurance. A person operating a vehicle without liability insurance who suffers personal injury or property damage in an accident must pay the first $10,000 toward the person's own property damage and the first $10,000 toward the person's own medical bills before seeking damages from any other party. Also, if that person is found to have been more than 50% at fault in the accident or is found to have been intoxicated at the time of the accident, the person cannot recover any damages for pain and suffering.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
