HB 887 -- Medicaid Pharmacy Management Program

This bill requires the Department of Social Services to develop
a Medicaid Pharmacy Management Program.  The program's duties
include supervision of the Medicaid pharmacy program and cost
containment programs; seeking recommendations from Medicaid
providers about management practices; entering into contracts
with consultants; and employing a program director, physicians,
pharmacists, and support personnel.  The program is also
required to include management programs for the disabled and
elderly and other appropriate subgroups and to expand to manage
the pharmacy programs for MC+ and the Missouri Consolidated
Health Care Plan when directed by the General Assembly.  The
bill also establishes the Joint Committee on Pharmacy
Management.  It is to consist of 6 members of the General
Assembly.  The Medicaid Pharmacy Management Program is required
to report to the committee on a quarterly basis.

The bill contains an emergency clause.
