HB 982 -- Property Tax:  Abatement of Real Property Owned by
Certain Firefighters

This bill abates a portion of the real property tax on the
property of certain volunteer firefighters.  The abatement will
only be on property located in the geographic boundaries of the
volunteer fire protection district in which the firefighter
works.  The amount of tax abatement is based on the number of
uninterrupted years of service provided by the volunteer, up to
a maximum of $1,000.

The bill provides for reimbursement of losses by political
subdivisions from state general revenue, subject to
appropriation.
