HB 648 -- TEMPORARY DRIVER'S PERMITS (Ostmann) Current law requires parents to provide a minimum of 20 hours of behind-the-wheel driver instruction in order for their child to obtain a temporary instruction permit or an intermediate driver's license. This bill gives an option of 20 hours of parent driver instruction or the completion of a formal driver training program which certifies the driver is competent to receive a driver's license. The bill also makes it clear that any person at least 15 years of age may operate a motor vehicle while in the immediate presence of a certified driver training instructor. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
