HS HCS HB 981 & 665 -- IMMUNITIES (Willoughby)

This substitute clarifies that school teachers are immune from
tort claims for reporting acts of school violence and threatened
acts of school violence when this reporting is mandated by law
and done so in conformity with established school board policies.

The substitute waives sovereign immunity and subjects the State
of Missouri to lawsuits for violations of the federal Family and
Medical Leave Act.

The substitute also waives sovereign immunity and subjects the
State of Missouri to lawsuits for discrimination resulting from
an employee exercising his or her rights under workers'
compensation law.

FISCAL NOTE:  Estimated Net Cost to Legal Expense Fund of $0 to
Unknown in FY 2002, FY 2003, and FY 2004.  Total cost could
exceed $100,000 in any given fiscal year.
