CCS SCS HB 157 -- MARRIAGE

This bill increases from 10 days to 15 days the time within
which a person performing a marriage must certify the marriage
and return the marriage license to the issuer.

Under the bill, it is the public policy of this state to
recognize marriage only between a man and woman.  Any purported
marriage between persons of the same sex is invalid and will not
be recognized in Missouri, even if valid where contracted.

The bill also clarifies that a person who does not have a Social
Security number may obtain a marriage license as long as the
person signs a statement that he or she does not have a Social
Security number.
