AN ACT

To repeal section 476.050, RSMo 2000, relating to court pleadings and forms and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to the same subject.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Section 476.050, RSMo 2000, is repealed and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 476.050, to read as follows:

476.050. All writs, process, proceedings, pleadings, forms commonly in use and records in any court, and in all inferior tribunals established by law, shall be in the English language, except that the proper and known names of process and technical words may be expressed in the language heretofore and now commonly used, and shall be made in a fair, legible character, in words at length, and not abbreviated; but such abbreviations as are now commonly used in the English language may be used, and numbers may be expressed by Arabic figures or Roman numerals, in the customary way. Notwithstanding the foregoing, such writs, processes, proceedings and records may be filed, submitted, stored and maintained in an electronic format or otherwise in the manner provided by supreme court rule.



Missouri House of Representatives
