AN ACT

To amend chapter 192, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to prostate cancer screening.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Chapter 192, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 192.074, to read as follows:

192.074. 1. The bureau of cancer control in the division of chronic disease prevention and health promotion in the department of health shall provide educational literature on the prevention of prostate cancer, perform early prostate screening and testing for all men fifty years of age and older with an emphasis on men in high risk areas, and coordinate such efforts with local health departments.

2. To implement the provisions of subsection 1 of this section, the bureau of cancer control in the division of chronic disease prevention and health promotion in the department of health shall develop educational materials that strongly recommend that men receive complete screenings in accordance with the current American Cancer Society guidelines. To encourage cancer prevention, such materials shall:

(1) Be distributed to men of all ages through hospitals, city and county district health units and the department of elementary and secondary education through health curriculum courses; and

(2) Include information regarding the possible risks and connection of sexually transmitted diseases and viruses.

3. For high risk urban and rural areas throughout the state, the department of health shall, in conjunction with the breast and cervical cancer screening project, staff a mobile unit for outreach and screening efforts.
