HB 1192 -- INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATIONS
SPONSOR: Harding
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Children, Families and Health by a vote of 14 to 0.
This bill expands the definition of "project" in the law relating
to industrial development corporations to include child or adult
day care facilities operated by not-for-profit organizations.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that child care and adult day care
expenses consume an increasing amount of financial resources of
parents and families. The bill is an effort to provide
affordable child care and adult day care services to working
parents and families by utilizing available community
organizations to operate these facilities.
Testifying for the bill was Representative Harding.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
