HB 1342 -- UNCONTESTED ELECTIONS

SPONSOR:  Farnen

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Elections by a vote of 11 to 0.

This bill removes uncontested political party committee races
from ballots.

The bill has an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE:  Savings to General Revenue Fund of $205,000 in FY
2003, $0 in FY 2004, and $205,000 in FY 2005.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will save the state a
sizeable amount of money.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Farnen; Boone County
Clerk's Office; Missouri Association of County Clerks and
Election Authorities; and Secretary of State's Office.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
