HB 1455 -- PUBLIC RETIREMENT SYSTEMS SPONSOR: O'Toole COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Retirement by a vote of 9 to 0. Under current law, a retired employee electing to retire under the deferred retirement option must elect to take the entire amount of eligible service. This bill allows the retiree to elect to take any portion of the eligible service in 12-month increments. The bill contains an emergency clause. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill corrects a problem with the retirement drop bill passed last year. The bill will give employees a choice of how many years they wish to use when taking the retirement drop option. Testifying for the bill were Representative O'Toole; Missouri Highway and Transportation Employees' and Highway Patrol Retirement System; State Highway and Transportation Employees' Association of Missouri; and Missouri Troopers' Association. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee. Steve Bauer, Legislative AnalystCopyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
