This bill requires the State Registrar to appoint the Recorder of Deeds as the Local Registrar for the City of St. Louis. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill would consolidate the functions of the Office of the Local Registrar under the Office of the Recorder of Deeds for the City of St. Louis. The consolidation would result in the establishment of a centralized office where vital statistics and records can be accessed by citizens of the City of St. Louis. The consolidation would save the City of St. Louis $250,000 annually. Testifying for the bill were Representatives Daus and Gambaro. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
