HB 1732 -- SEWERAGE SERVICES
SPONSOR: Ostmann
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Local
Government and Related Matters by a vote of 14 to 1.
This bill repeals the statute allowing cities and villages to sue
the occupant or owner of a premises to recover sums due for
sewerage services or water and sewerage service.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the owner of property may not be
aware that a tenant is behind on utility payments. The owner and
tenant should be notified before any action is taken by a
utility.
Testifying for the bill was Representative Ostmann.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
