HCS HB 2083 -- UTILICARE STABILIZATION FUND

SPONSOR:  Mays, 50 (Boucher)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Utilities
Regulation by a vote of 21 to 0.

This substitute requires the transfer of natural gas or electric
rate refunds to the Utilicare Stabilization Fund if the refunds
remain unclaimed for five years.  Transferred funds that are not
used for heating or cooling assistance within one year revert to
general revenue.

FISCAL NOTE:  Not available at time of printing.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will provide additional
funding needed for the Utilicare assistance program.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Boucher.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
