Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 2097 -- WEIGHTS AND MEASURES

CO-SPONSORS:  Copenhaver, Berkowitz, Shoemyer (9), Smith, Britt

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on
Agriculture by a vote of 23 to 0.

This bill brings Missouri's Weights and Measure Law into
conformity with the Uniform Weights and Measure Law drafted by
the National Conference on Weights and Measures.

Current provisions which assess a penalty of 1% per month on the
unpaid balance of fees for inspection of measuring devices and a
$100 penalty for fees 90 days or later are removed.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill is necessary to provide
consistency among states pursuant to weights and measures.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Copenhaver; and
Department of Agriculture.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
