HB 2120 -- METHOD OF ASCERTAINING THE VALUE OF PROPERTY CO-SPONSORS: Ridgeway, Hosmer COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Criminal Law by a vote of 13 to 0. This bill determines the value of certain stolen property. If the victim is a merchant and the stolen property would have been sold in the ordinary course of the merchant's business, the value of the property is the price at which the merchant would normally sell the item. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill clarifies the law so that value is determined in the same way throughout the state. Testifying for the bill was Representative Ridgeway. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee. Amy Woods, Legislative AnalystCopyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
