HB 2130 -- PROPERTY TAX: PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX LISTS CO-SPONSORS: Boykins, Gambaro, Villa, Shelton, Daus, Carnahan, Haywood COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Municipal Corporations by a vote of 9 to 0. This bill allows the due date for providing the county assessor with a listing of personal property owned by a taxpayer to be considered timely filed on the next business day if April 1 falls on a Saturday or Sunday. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill extends the filing date from April 1 to the next business day for returning a listing of tangible personal property owned to a local assessor if the date occurs on a weekend. The Internal Revenue Service utilizes a similar practice for filing tax returns. Testifying for the bill were Representative Boykins; and City of St. Louis.
