Summary of the Committee Version of the Bill

HB 2130 -- PROPERTY TAX: PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX LISTS

CO-SPONSORS: Boykins, Gambaro, Villa, Shelton, Daus, Carnahan,
Haywood

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Municipal Corporations by a vote of 9 to 0.

This bill allows the due date for providing the county assessor
with a listing of personal property owned by a taxpayer to be
considered timely filed on the next business day if April 1 falls
on a Saturday or Sunday.

FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill extends the filing date
from April 1 to the next business day for returning a listing of
tangible personal property owned to a local assessor if the date
occurs on a weekend. The Internal Revenue Service utilizes a
similar practice for filing tax returns.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Boykins; and City of
St. Louis.

OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
