HB 2137 -- COMPENSATION FOR COUNTY TREASURERS

SPONSOR:  Crump

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Committee on
Miscellaneous Bills and Resolutions by a vote of 8 to 3.

This bill increases the salary schedule for county treasurers.
The bill allows increases based on the assessed valuation of the
county.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that county treasurers make less than
other county officials.  The bill does not mandate raises but
allows county salary commissions to make them.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Crump.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
