HB 2155 -- REGIONAL CHILD ASSESSMENT CENTERS CO-SPONSORS: Willoughby, Phillips COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Children, Families and Health by a vote of 14 to 0. This bill adds the Clay-Platte Child Assessment Center to the list of regional child assessment centers funded by the Department of Social Services. The addition of this center to the list is contingent on the currently approved assessment centers submitting a modified funding formula to the department which would require no additional state funding for all regional child assessment centers. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that child assessment centers in Missouri perform vital child protective service functions for children who are suspected victims of abuse and neglect. The nearest child assessment center in Jackson County has a waiting period up to three weeks. The bill would not result in additional state funding for these facilities. Testifying for the bill was Representative Phillips. OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee. Joseph Deering, Legislative AnalystCopyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
