Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1142 -- Municipal Utilities

Sponsor: Hosmer

This bill prohibits information furnished to the Public Service
Commission by a municipal utility from being made public unless
the material is specifically required by law to be open to the
public, is ordered open by the commission, or is made public by
the commission during a hearing or proceeding.

The bill also allows municipal utilities to file a motion for a
protective order with the commission within three business days
after receiving a request for information that the utility
considers proprietary, highly confidential, or critical to
security. A copy of the motion must be served on the party
making the information request, and challenges to the motion may
be made within the following 10 days. The commission must review
the motion and any challenges and issue a written decision within
30 days after the motion was filed.
