HB 1444 -- Licensure of Homes for Children

This bill revises provisions pertaining to licensure exemption of
certain facilities for children by the Division of Family
Services.

Residential care facilities providing tuition-based educational
programs which meet criteria recognized by the Department of
Elementary and Secondary Education and camps, sanitariums or
homes providing recreational, medical treatment, or nursing care
are removed from the exemption.  Foster home arrangements,
residential care facilities, or child placing agencies
established and operated by well-known religious orders are also
removed from the exemption.

Current law prohibits the division from requiring facilities
which believe they are exempt to submit documentation in support
of exemption.  The bill repeals that prohibition.
