HB 1471 -- Self-Service Storage Facilities Sponsor: Skaggs Current law states that the operator of a self-service storage facility has a lien on all personal property stored within each leased space. The bill states that this lien is in effect regardless of whether or not the property being stored in the facility is owned by the occupant. The bill states that the lien attaches when personal property is brought to the self-service storage facility or when the occupant takes possession of the self-storage facility. Current law states that if an occupant is in default, the operator of the facility must give the occupant notice that he or she will be denied access to the leased space. The bill states that if the occupant is in default for at least five days the owner may deny the occupant access to the leased space without notice and may proceed without judicial process.Copyright (c) Missouri House of Representatives
