HB 1564 -- Property Tax:  Assessment of Property

This bill freezes the assessed valuation of any parcel of
residential property owned and used as a homestead by a person 65
years of age or older, excluding the value of new construction or
improvements to the property.

Any loss by political subdivisions from the freeze will be
reimbursed by the state through appropriations.

The bill has an effective date of January 1, 2003.
