Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1871 -- Collaborative Practice Arrangements

Sponsor: Barry

This bill revises a provision pertaining to collaborative
practice arrangements between licensed physicians and registered
professional nurses.

The bill requires that collaborative practice arrangements allow
physicians to delegate to registered professional nurses the
authority to order therapies. The registered professional nurse
is required to be an advanced practice nurse.

Currently, a registered professional nurse has the authority to
administer, dispense, or prescribe drugs and provide treatment if
delegated by a licensed physician under a collaborative practice
arrangement.
