HB 1901 -- Paraprofessional Teaching Assistants

This bill establishes a program in the Department of Elementary
and Secondary Education to assist paraprofessionals in achieving
teacher certification.  The bill requires that any college
courses toward certification be taken at public institutions of
higher education.  The department will determine candidate
qualifications and select recipients based on qualifications and
need.  Beginning in the 2003-2004 school year, 100 candidates
will receive grants.
