Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 1996 -- Purchase of Liquor by a Minor

Co-Sponsors: Dempsey, Portwood, Holt, Shoemaker (8)

Currently, persons under the age of 21 who use false
identification to purchase alcohol are guilty of a misdemeanor
and subject to a $500 fine for each offense. This bill removes
the provision that the fine is applicable for each offense and
also requires the individual's driver's license to be revoked for
one year for a first offense. For second and subsequent
offenses, the individual is guilty of a misdemeanor, subject to a
$1,000 fine for each offense, and has his or her driver's license
revoked for one year.
