Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 2094 -- Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Co-Sponsors: Reynolds, Froelker

This bill changes the Missouri Commission for the Deaf to the
Missouri Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The bill
changes the requirements for the composition of the commission
that currently include two deaf persons and one parent of a deaf
child to "deaf or hard of hearing persons" or parent of a "deaf
or hard of hearing" child. A similar change is made in the
requirement for the director. The bill also creates a fund for
the commission which would consist of appropriations for the
commission and moneys transferred or paid to the commission for
goods or services, as well as gifts, grants, or bequests from any
source. The bill provides that evaluators for the board for
certification of interpreters for the deaf, who currently receive
only reimbursement for their expenses, may be compensated for
their services, as well as receiving expense reimbursement.
