Summary of the Introduced Bill

HB 2219 -- Intoxication-Related Traffic Offenses

Sponsor: Naeger

Current law requires individuals who plead or are found guilty of
a second or subsequent intoxication-related traffic offense to
have an ignition interlock device installed in their vehicle.
This bill gives the court the discretion to order the
installation of the ignition interlock device for second or
subsequent offenses. The bill also prohibits the Department of
Revenue from suspending or revoking the driver's license of a
person who pleads guilty or who is found guilty of a first or
second intoxication-related traffic offense and who is required
to use an ignition interlock device.
