AN ACT

To amend chapter 217, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to telephone service for prison inmates.



Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Chapter 217, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 217.287, to read as follows:

217.287. 1. Contracts for collect call telephone services for correctional institutions of the department of corrections shall be awarded to the lowest and the best bidder over the life of the contract, based on call costs to called parties.

2. The division of purchasing of the office of administration may renegotiate any existing contracts for collect call telephone service for correctional institutions of the department of corrections to reduce call costs to called parties.
