REP.  PETER C. MYERS Sr.

91st General Assembly

Rep. Peter C. Myers Sr., a Republican, represents parts of Scott, New Madrid, and Mississippi counties (District 160) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Myers is currently president of Myers Land Management Co.  He also serves as an advisor to Adopt a Farm Family of America, Inc., a Christian outreach to farm and ranch families, for which his wife Mary if the full-time volunteer president.

Rep. Myers has served in various agricultural positions on the national and local levels ranging from president and CEO of the Farm Credit Council, Washington, D.C. and Denver, Co., August 1989 to June 1992; deputy secretary of Agriculture-USDA, Washington, D.C., June 1986 to May 1989; chief, Soil Conservation Service-USDA, Washington, D.C., April 1982 to May 1985; farm owner and operator of a Sikeston area of Southeast Missouri, January 1955 to April 1982.

He attends Calvary Temple Church in Sikeston and is a member of the Missouri 4H Foundation; School of Natural Resources Advisory Council, University of Missouri-Columbia; UMC Delta Center in Portageville; Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce and Missouri Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.

Other positions previously held by Rep. Myers include: commissioner of the Mo. Dept. of Conservation, vice president of the Missouri Pork Producers Assn., state board member of the Missouri Farm Bureau, president of the New Madrid County Farm Bureau, Little League Basketball commissioner and New Madrid County 4-H leader.

In 1993, Rep. Myers received the prestigious J. Sterling Morton Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation.  He has also been recognized as Sikeston Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year; National Assoc. of Conservation Districts, Distinguished Service award and was named the National Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer in 1967.

Rep. Myers is a 1949 graduate of Racine Horlick High School in Racine, Wis. He is also a 1959 graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture.

From 1953 to 1955 Rep. Myers served in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps as 1st Lt.

Born January 4, 1931, in Racine, Wis., Rep. Myers currently resides in Sikeston with his wife Mary.  They have five children, Joseph, Peter Jr., Kristina, Gretchen and Jon.  They also have 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
