HB 199 -- POLICE OFFICER COMPENSATION

COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 15 to 0.
This bill increases the maximum annual salary for police officers
in Kansas City.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill allows Kansas City to
give police a pay raise. The city and the police officers have
already agreed on the increase based on studies and the city's
needs.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Jolly; Kansas City
Police Department; City of Kansas City; Missouri-Kansas Women
Police; Kansas City Black Police Officers Association; Latino
Police Officers Association; and Kansas City Police Officers
Association.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
