HB 244 -- COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING

CO-SPONSORS:  Baker, Cooper (120), Davis (122), Rector

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 14 to 0.

This bill authorizes Cass County to choose by ordinance any
county planning and zoning program authorized by state statute,
except planning and zoning for a first classification charter
county.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill will save Cass County
the cost of an election.  Cass County has adopted planning and
zoning as a second classification county and would have to vote
on planning and zoning again because it is now a first
classification county.  The county is satisfied with its current
planning and zoning.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Baker; and Cass
County Commissioner.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
