HB 290 -- CAMPAIGN FINANCE DISCLOSURE REPORTS
SPONSOR: Yates, Johnson (47), Dusenberg, Pratt, Smith (14),
Avery, Guest, Pearce
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass" by the Committee on Elections
by a vote of 11 to 1.
Under current campaign finance disclosure laws, certain
candidates are required to file campaign finance disclosure
reports with both the Missouri Ethics Commission and the
candidate's election authority. This bill eliminates the
requirement of filing those reports with the election authority
if the reports have been filed electronically with the commission
and the candidate has filed a declaration with the election
authority that electronic filing will be used exclusively.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill simplifies matters and
eliminates an undue burden.
Testifying for the bill was Representative Yates.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
