HB 430 -- JUDICIAL CONFERENCE

CO-SPONSORS:  Stevenson, Pratt, Byrd, Mayer, Lipke (157),
Carnahan, Johnson (61), Johnson (90), Willoughby, Jolly

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Judiciary by a vote of 18 to 0.

This bill amends the process for filling vacancies of any
unexpired term on the executive council of the judicial
conference.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill is necessary because
currently there is no provision in law to fill vacancies on the
judicial conference and there needs to be equal representation at
appellate and circuit levels.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Stevenson; Missouri
Judicial Conference; and Associate Circuit Judges and Probate
Judges Association.

OPPOSITION:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
