HB 440 -- DENTAL WELL-BEING COMMITTEE
SPONSOR: Portwood
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Professional Registration and Licensing by a vote of 16 to 0.
This bill allows the State Dental Board to disclose confidential
records and information to the board's Committee on Well-Being
for the purpose of assisting in the rehabilitation of impaired
licensees. All information disclosed to the committee is still
considered confidential and closed to the public.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill creates needed
clarifying language. At this time, the board is unable to
communicate with the Well-Being Committee. Allowing them to
communicate with each other will expedite intervention and
treatment.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Portwood; and Dr. J.
C. Stanley.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
