HB 552 -- LAW LIBRARY FUNDING

SPONSOR:  Kingery

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Judiciary by a vote of 18 to 0.

This bill allows moneys collected in Butler and Ripley counties
pursuant to Section 488.426, RSMo, (allowing a $15 surcharge on
civil case filings) to also be used for courtroom renovation and
technology enhancement in those counties.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill simply allows the
circuit to use surplus funds to modernize the courtroom.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Kingery; Judge Mark
Richardson, 36th Judicial Circuit; and Southeast Communities
United for Regional Advancement.
